Model Overview
Volkswagen's have always been the height for customisation with the ideal base for improvements on all elements of styling and mechanical. The Karmann Ghia is a simply stunning model in its standard form upon its release in 1955, these hand-built 4 seater coupe's were an outstanding success throughout its 19 year production run. Nearly 60 years later, the vast majority of remaining Ghia's have faced extensive repairs and minor restorations to a wide range of different extremities, making it very hard to decipher the good from bad. A 'nut and bolt' restoration by a highly reputable garage, supported by rather large wallet, gives all the peace of mind you could ask for ; warranting a perfected merge of new into old, with modern reliability, comfort and condition, combined with class and simplicity from the golden era of machine where design was influenced by beauty and elegance.
History & Highlights
Built with precision, this award-winning 1970 Karmann Ghia represents the highest grade of 'resto-mod' that can be achieved with no expenses or time spared. A full 'nut and bolt' restoration, utilising 'Airlift' air suspension and management, was completed by 'DC Customs at a rough cost of over £90, 000 in 2017, with an array of well regarded show winning awards to compliment this Karmann Ghia as the best of it's kind. A mere 711 miles have been covered since, with preservation throughout the 8 year stint ensuring a condition still current of a fresh restoration. Preparation
Engine : Fully Rebuilt 2. 1L Engine, Lightened, Balanced, Bored by 'Californian Classics' in 2017. Power figures have improved to 145. 8HP, a necessity from the factory 54HP.
